Shout Out!

Hey everyone. no new art today. Just sharing. My Cave Story fanart somehow managed to get some attention. One of the developers who is working on the Cave Story remake for the Wii saw it and posted it on the Development blog!

The Cactus

He was named Niko in the beginning but I eventually just referred to him as "The Boy". Originally the story was that he was entrusted with a mouthpiece by his father the village Chief and it was a right of passage for him to summon the cactus gods. I cut it out because I had no clear and fast way to tell the audience that this was the situation. Niko still is the village chief's son and is granted the duty of village chief after the cactus gods finish their business. The Village Chief just isn't shown in the film. This would be said on the commentary if there were a DVD with special features.
The houses started out as cactus huts but I decided to go with adobe buildings in the end.
To be honest I never ended up doing that many preliminary drawings of the cacti. I drew the boy a lot more. I liked drawing him more. I felt that I got the designs of the cactus done and settled pretty early on.

He is Risen.

"In Christ Alone"
By Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

Summer Summer Summer

Weeeeell I accidentally poured water on my tablet and then it short circuited. I still need to phone Wacom and see if I can get it fixed. Hopefully it wont cost more than buying a new one. Either way its frustrating. I've learned not to drink anything at the computer desk now. I've been borrowing Bryan's from time to time so I've been doing a bit of it here and there. Mainly I just do my painting at work but I can't show you that stuff :P I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2 right now. It's quite good but I picked hard mode because I thought since I've been playing tactics games almost my whole gaming life that I'd be able to take it on. I thought it would be harder actually but instead of it being hard it's just plain frustrating. Battles take a long time and they deal a lot of damage to me. I dont regret doing hard mode though, it's still fun. I'm almost done it and then I'm on to Square Enix's other new DS game "The World Ends with You". Gonna be gewd.

By the way, Wall-E is amazing... I want one...

I've got more around that need more tweaking. Also most of the drawing and painting I've been doing is for work which has been great by the way!

LEVEL UP!!!

Good hustle team.

I managed to make it into both the Street Fighter Tribute Art Book and the Pepper Art Book! That was kind of unexpected to be honest. I sure am honoured though! Udon requests that you don't put your Street Fighter image up until after it's been published which is some time in July I believe...

Easter

"From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."

Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all. that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"

-Matthew 27: 45-54 (NIV)

"After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him..."
-Matthew 28: 1-9 (NIV)

Happy Easter!
He is risen indeed!

100 On Hold

Hey guys. I've decided to put the 100 characters thing on hold until this school year is over mainly because it's taking up a lot of my time and is getting in the way of school work like my group project. I honestly did pick a bad time to start a thing like this. I've been having a blast doing them though and I wish I did have the time and energy to concentrate on them more in my free time. I definitely do want to start up again come May.

Character #20 - Ukah An ancient god of the earth. Ukah granted all who brought him soil and fertilizer good luck. Whenever one of his feet hit the ground, a flower would sprout. When Ukah was pleased with what a he had received he stomped his feet with joy and let out a cry that was said to have been one of the most beautiful sounds you could possibly hear. Sometimes Ukah appeared at funerals and took the deceased body straight to the earth and then blessed the family with a flower that would never die. Most Ukah flowers are long since gone. They were either destroyed or hidden so they are very rare. Ukah flowers are said to possess incredible power.

Character #21 - Zelbiss Regardless of Zelbiss' race's ear size, they have better hearing than over 95% of the creatures in the galaxy. Zelbiss is a bum and robs from technology stores and eats out of trash cans most of the time but lately he's been doing pretty good. He's been getting hired by a pack of rebels against the empire to eaves drop on the enemy. His ragged appearance and low social status allow him to easily get close to people. He receives a wealthy sum in return for his efforts.

Switching it up!

A friend of mine brought up the fact that the 100 characters was an exercise to vary up mediums so I did these 2 with pencil and paper.

Character #18 - Leos
A regular in the coliseum. Leos has practically become a celebrity. He doesn't only have the muscles to smash his opponent to bits but has the brains to outwit them too! Sometimes he can lose his calm though which I can see not looking too good when he gets up in the higher ranks against others who are just as skilled or even more so than him.

Character #19 - PhionaA bimbo genie. Often misinterprets wishes leading to comical situations.

EDIT: They felt a little bland so I did some Photoshop stuff to them :P

Also...
If you like techno... And game music... And the sound of a gameboy... Then you're in luck!!! There's a community of musicians that I stumbled upon recently who make music using a gameboy to get that classic 8bit quality and some of the music is really cool! If you're into that kind of thing, go check it out!
